The 8′ Onikiri Spybait’n Rod was designed to give big-water anglers a decisive advantage in line control, lure management, and fish-fighting performance. Built from the ground up with “spybaiting” as its primary purpose, the Onikiri incorporates innovative design features that redefine what a dedicated “spybait” rod can do. It takes spybaiting and other closely similar techniques to a whole other level.

Not only does it deliver exceptional casting distance, but its specialized guide system and guide placement are engineered for long, accurate presentations. Rated Medium-Light, it comfortably handles lures from 1/8 to 3/8 oz?and even larger when needed.

The blank was specifically designed to transmit the slightest lure movement or subtle contact, allowing anglers to better detect the rhythmic pulse of the moving spybait and identify even the lightest strike. This becomes especially valuable when a bass engulfs the bait and swims toward the angler.

Once hooked, nearly the entire rod engages in the fight, creating continuous pressure while the powerful lower section provides the leverage needed to control trophy-sized bass. Hook retention was a primary design objective, addressing one of the biggest shortcomings of traditional spybait rods. With the Onikiri, keeping bass securely pinned is no longer a concern.

As an added bonus, the rod’s unique characteristics also make it an outstanding big-water forward-facing sonar (scoping) rod or great lakes drop shot weapon. The art of silent capture has been refined and elevated with the Onikiri.
